Customer in a hurry not to patience to hear you out . because I’m in the road trying to verify my account. I asked to repeat the question unfortunately the agent doesn’t help me to solve my concern.

impatient agent,in a hurry , just end the call without solving the issues ,refer to the bank itself or personal customer service , it takes a mile from my place to the bank office . for a simple solution or answer to my queries.

Very poor customer service!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Banked with these people for a few years. Have had multiple problems with them but being hung up on by customer service is the last straw. Avoid this place as much as you can. Very poor service and long wait on calls. Also, you are legal supposed to be given the interest that builds from your account but the call them "rewards" and they have to be claimed online every month. If you don't, they keep it. Just a little that shows a lot about this scummy establishment.

I ordered checks twice from there vendor

90 days ago at One Nevada Credit Union, I ordered checks stopped into a branch for a ticket waited patiently drafted the 19.95 or so dollars 60 days went buy, I've been buying money orders in the meantime checks never arrived. Fast-forward Mar 23.2020 still no checks So I stopped into a branch got a ticket and patiently waited, upon my turn the banking professional asked if I had 45 min he said it would take. I waited provided necessary info opened a secured card lending credit to myself to build credit this was the time-consuming part, lending myself money at interest for the bank to make money. Anyway the second clerk ordered checks from a vendor the bank stopped using 20 something days previous, now here I am April 22nd still no checks called customer service 25 min on hold apologetic clerk investigates and finds what I've just told you and asks if id like to order checks? 3 months I've been ordering checks what would you say? To the 3rd clerk who wants to draft your account to order checks that are never coming? One Nevada Credit Union? What gives? How many months does it take to get a box of checks so you can conduct business?????? Meanwhile, I've been nicked and dimed three times what it costs to print some dam checks?? Over the last 3 months One Nevada Credit Union? CC'd copy to BBB CC'd copy to Yelp

Continuously charged overdraft fees for unauthorized transactions

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was treated very unfairly. Making cold, rude comments, and rolling her eyes.

I had a whole bunch of overdraft and charges that I didn’t recognize I tried going over them with her but she said she just didn’t have the time and she charge per sheet of paper for printouts, that’s how cold they are. I had to use the tellers pen and she yanked it away like I have some kind of disease!

obviously she was racist and that is the kind of people they have working at their bank. To be treated so rudely after somebody had stolen my banking information and make charges on my account they show no sympathy at this bank.

They reported to the Credit Bureau that it was paid off.

Original review Mar 15, 2018
This happened leading up to 3-14-18. In early 2017 after 4 years with direct deposit of $5500 a month, I was late for a credit card payment. The collection department called (the representative was rude and non responsive) and told me I was late. I had switched jobs and the terms had changed and I had a decrease in pay. Credit cards were not my top priority at this point but I do care about my credit, so I informed him I would be making a payment the next paycheck. When the next check came I found out my car payment had bounced because of insufficient funds. I came to find out they had withdrew the cc payment from my checking. I was upset and when I called they explained that this is what I signed when getting the cc and that they could take funds for past due balances and were within their right to do so. That may be true but I was depending on that money for other things which also caused an overdraft fee, indirectly caused by them. They would not reverse it. This seems like a small issue but I argued it based on never being late in the past and that just because they could doesn’t mean they should. Finally after debating with the this place, and the terrible customer experience via the phone contacts, based on principle, I switched my direct deposit to a bank. I still had a balance on the cc which I stopped paying on, with intent to fix when my situation improved. Fast forward to this week, I am making more with my job and am trying to straighten things out. Most cards will let you make offers to settle debts. This week my tax preparer told me he had my refund going to this routing number, the one from last year. He didn’t realize I had switched banks. I tried to contact the IRS to have it switched but to no avail. I called One Nevada to cancel my account. They were so helpful until I mentioned I wanted to cancel. Then, for that I had to go to a branch. After doing that immediately when I was off work, (my checking was already canceled but my savings was still active. Shame on me for that one) they went to look up my account. I had checked it that day and it was zero. I was going to pay whatever fees I may have for closing the checking and savings. When they looked it up I had an unavailable balance of $5900. I explained that it was a mistake, I wanted the money and I would pay whatever fees I owed the bank. They said the reason why was because of my cc (which was charged off) with a $5000 limit which with fees and penalties I owed them $5450 and change. “I was ‘welcome to’ the $500 residual that was left after they collected their money owed”. I talked to a manager which by the way used every textbook technique to change the subject, focus on what my tax preparer did wrong, etc. besides getting to the real issue. I think her name was Vicky? She was quick to tell me that she’s been doing this for 30 years and that’s the way it goes, any bank would do the same thing, etc. The biggest issue I had is that the card was charged off! They wrote it off in 9-17, she even mentioned that, meaning they called it a loss and filed it as a loss and could have sold the debt. It could go to any licensed debt buyer to get the debt because it has been charged off and is a loss, bad debt that they won’t collect so in turn will get a break for. When I brought this up she said “if it was sold off I would have been the one to sign off on that, so it’s not sold off”. However it was written off for that year meaning they have been compensated for losing that debt. They shouldn’t be entitled to the full amount plus penalties. I told them I was even willing to pay past due balances and late fees but not the entire debt at this time. (Who is prepared to make a payoff of their entire debt at any given time?) Important part: - They are benefiting twice, tax break as a loss and now the full debt plus penalties. They said I could write a letter to the appeals committee on Mojave in LV to try to get the money back but it’s not likely it would get refunded. The point is they received money, that was not intended for them, that I had other plans for (which included settling that debt) and once it’s routed into their hands, it’s off limits to you, the consumer, the one using their services. The one they are using your money to loan and to make money on. After this ordeal, the very kind teller, who I could tell was embarrassed by the awkward conversation asked, do you still want to close the account? Of course I want to close it! I wasn’t mad at her. I even told her, I’m not mad at you doing your job, I’m mad at the situation. More than that I don’t want to have anything to do with your organization except spread the word of caution to fellow consumers. I want to go on a campaign against One Nevada. I used to be a big advocate of credit unions, telling people to support them, and they do have their place, to keep the banks competitive, but use them with caution! The banks have competition against each other and Wall Street with stock holders to answer to, the street with Quarterly earning reports, and You will get Just a little bit more loyalty. They tend to blink a little when they see an account go away. This place though, was all about taking the money even though I had some of that designated for my daughters education as well as other things important to me. Me, you know, like you, the consumer, the one who paid the tax and am getting the overpayment refunded. As long as the cc gets their money though. Which by the way, cc’s should be used as a last resort, with compound interest and writing off debt, they made that money back with no problem. What if I would have gone back to direct deposit with them? Would they call that debt and I wouldn’t have money to pay for mortgage or utilities? A tip for that credit union: let the customers designate what they do with their money. Lesson learned- be all about the cash and cashiers checks. By the way: I know Wells Fargo is a “big evil national bank”, but they have their customer service on point. They greet me when I come in, they notarize for free, they have sent documents when needed. No Nickel and dime-ing oh and no, hmm, Funds Seizure!! Just saying, you may pay some fee under $10 a month but at least you don’t end up with this stuff... I would love not to pay a fee but it’s better than this non responsive experience I dealt with.

They will try to SCAM you out of fees! HORRIBLE!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
How can you charge me a $35 fee for a charge that was made days ago, with money in the account when charge was made, & when charge was made the payment was reflected on my available balance? Then when you call customer service they give an excuse that “they only see certain info so they can’t go thought the details of the account”. I called twice in 1 day because I wanted to have the representative add up all my charges & explained to me how going over my limit by $22 caused me to have (7) $35 charges. All I got was that I need to call some other department. When I asked can I just go in to a branch to speak to someone, she told me the branch will instruct me to call that same #. That’s the start of the problem, it’s ok for me to deposit my money into this bank, but I don’t have the luxury of speaking with someone face to face? That makes no sense at all. Numbers don’t lie, & it seems so shady how they can give you a fee for something that was available, shows pending, & your current balance reflects the amount of the charge that was paid? Not my fault I make a charge on Wed & it’s post on Mon or whatever they try to tell. It’s my responsibility to make sure the money is in the account at time of purchase (which it was). Because as soon as I enter my pin & the machine reads approved - that money is no longer available to me, so can I possibly get a fee for that same charge days later?!? They try to explain it as “if it’s pending when u made that charge u have to wait for it to post* if I have $500 in my account & I charge $500 it does not matter what’s pending & what’s no as long as I don’t charge anything over that $500. This seems to not mke sense with this credit union. What’s really strange about the process is that when the charge is pending that amount is taken out of your available balance. I feel like everyone at this bank needs a math class because nothing is adding up! I’ve never experienced anything like this. Really thinking about taking my business elsewhere!

Fees on top of fees

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to open a savings account and they actually make you open a checkings and savings to get the savings. I thought that was weird to begin with. They’re already charging a monthly fee to bank with them, but on top of that, they will charge you for every little thing. I’ve been charged multiple overdraft fees because they’re system is extremely slow to update balances correctly. But then they blame it on you saying well, you should also keep a paper register. If I wanted to keep a paper register, I would just be my own bank, keep my money at home in a safe and I wouldn’t use you guys. For example: I overdrafted my account one day by pulling too much money out of the ATM. I accepted that fee, I know I messed up. My available balance said -97.00 and my current balance said -111. Well, the next day I was negative $235. The things that show pending on your account isn’t reflected in any of your balances. When I was with other banks, if things showed as pending on your account, it was reflected in your available balance. Well not here! It will just show up whenever it wants so you can get hit with a $35 fee every time something hits your account. The representative also informed me that everything is posted manually at their Credit Union since they’re not huge yet. Wow. Well that explains a lot. Also, she said they have up to 72 hours to post things. WOW, so why not wait for a convenient time to post something to my account to generate overdraft fees? Basically, if you ever hit the negatives at this place....its never just one negative fee, you will get raped will $35 fees left and right for things you believed were already reflected in your available balance. I currently have over $160 in fees because One Nevada loves to wait 3 days to post everything which confuses the *** out of people. They’re basically always 3days behind.....on purpose. Scam artists

I spoke with several staff members. Two by phone and one via email and they refused to help me out.

They pretty much said that The system is unreliable but I should still be keeping a paper ledger.

Therefore I still have to pay $140 in fees. Geesh, I accept the first few but come on, 4 fees for something that’s really not even my fault!?

Earlier this year (2018), I was negative $100 because I was in the middle of moving and had some unexpected expenses. They were going to get their money on my next pay date from my direct deposit obviously. But no....instead they decide to go into my WIFE’S account and take the money from her. What kind of place does that? That’s not cool.

Overdraft Fee Hungry

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I joined One Nevada Credit Union in December 2017 for a fresh start after spending 12 years at BofA.

The account opening experience online was smooth, minus one glitch that was no fault of theirs. However, in the 3 months that I’ve had this account, the account opening experience was about the only thing that went smoothly.

One Nevada boasts the motto ‘Our One Focus Is You’, but you are only that focus so they can tack on overdraft fee after overdraft fee after overdraft fee.

When you open a new account here, be cautious regarding how their systems operate versus a standard bank. I wasn’t informed of some of the key differences when opening up my account, probably purposely. With a standard bank, you’re able to overdraft your account in certain situations without being charged an overdraft fee as long as you bring the account to a positive balance or at least zeroed out by the end of the current business day.

At One Nevada, they want to nickel and dime you as much as possible so the second your account goes overdrawn, they assess a fee. Years ago, the federal government stepped in to regulate overdraft fees charged by banks — not credit unions.

Earlier this month, I disputed 3 transactions. In spite of my initial hesitation, I was quite impressed with Vantage and their swift and professional response to my claims. All of the claims were resolved in my favor and the money placed back in my account.

However, all 3 of those disputed transactions incurred a $35 Overdraft Fee. I was told that when the claim was resolved, if it was in my favor then I would get the overdraft fees back as well. Nobody at ONCU wants to take ownership and refund me the fees! I spoke to Julia at a branch who told me to wait a few days to see if they’d automatically credit, then Ericka at a different branch said she had to talk with her manager and she’d call me back. She never did.

Then, what finally set me off and pushed me to the breaking point was about a week ago. I used their courtesy cash option and overdrew my account (I’m okay paying this fee, I knew it would cost me money). However, there were 3 pending transactions and when those transactions posted, I was hit with a fee for each of those as well. The account was positive when the funds were taken out, so why would there be a fee?

I’m not trying to dispute overdraft fees that are assessed legitimately (I.e. courtesy cash). However, ONCU seems to assess fees for just about everything - I even had one overdraft fee because Amazon debited my account 1 CENT when the account was already negative. They allowed the charge, then hit me with another $35.

I cancelled my direct deposit going into this credit union and I’ve already gone crawling back to BofA. Right now, the account is negative and so will be closing it as soon as I have the funds to bring it to a zero balance.

In closing, I’m disappointed because this is not the way I thought my experience would go with ONCU. I had high expectations, but what I should’ve been ready for was high disappointments.
